Recently I’ve been experiencing art from the other side of the canvas: figure modeling. I pose for figure drawing classes, including clothed, nude, and themed sessions. Sessions range from academic instruction, to a more free-flowing vibe of an open studio format. Holding poses for artists to create their work was a test of endurance and creative strength, but the efforts paid off in the quality of work that the artists produced. Unfortunately, all of the establishments I participated with have closed their doors either permanently or temporarily due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, but the places I’ve modeled at include:
- Monroe Community College Art Department
- Steve Carpenter Art Gallery
- Rochester Arts Club: Anderson Alley Artists
- The Yards Art Collective
- New York Figure Study Guild
- Carnegie Art Center, Buffalo, NY
- Art Center of Rochester, Irondequoit, NY
